In the UK, befriending politicians or being born into a certain family can get you a seat in the House of Lords – but being elected by the people can’t. It should be called the House of Privilege.
This outdated, grubby giveaway system has left 800 out-of-touch ‘Lords’ free to make decisions that affect us all. But they don’t represent any of us.
